Collection: Death Row — Dark-Roast Coffee

Welcome to Death Row — where our darkest, boldest beans await their final sentence. These are full-bodied, fresh dark roast coffees, roasted to order in small batches for a heavy, low-acid cup that hits like a last meal.

What dark roast tastes like. Roasting longer pushes the beans past the second crack, which burns off brightness and acidity and replaces it with depth. Expect bittersweet chocolate, toasted nuts, caramelized sugar and a smoky edge, carried on a syrupy body that coats the tongue. Origin character fades into the background; roast character takes over. If bright, fruity coffee tastes thin or sour to you, this is the shelf you want.

Who it's for. Dark roast drinkers, espresso tinkerers, anyone who adds cream or sugar (dark roasts hold up where lighter cups get washed out), and early risers who need a cup with backbone.

How to brew it. Dark roasts love immersion. Grind medium-coarse for a French press at roughly 1 gram of coffee to 15–16 grams of water, steep four minutes, then plunge slowly. For drip, go slightly coarser than usual and pull your water just off the boil — over-extracting a dark roast is what makes it taste ashy and bitter.

Low acidity note. Because the roast burns off much of the natural acid, dark roasts are the gentlest option here for sensitive stomachs.

Every bag is roasted after you order and shipped within 2 business days. Choose whole bean or ground at checkout.
